Kim Wilde's latest book targets new gardeners
Kim has the ability to communicate in a fun and informative way, with some excellent photos to support her ideas
Kim Wilde has written First-time Gardener with great enthusiasm and passion for gardening, and she talks a lot about the therapeutic qualities of the subject. I think this book will be a great asset for the new gardener as Kim has the ability to communicate in a fun and informative way, with some excellent photos to support her ideas. Her use of different materials, metal, brick and wood provide the reader with plenty to think about for either a garden or allotment, and the top 10 colourful plants section is a great tool for newcomers and experienced gardeners alike. It's always good to have your mind jogged about plants that look good.

About the author
Kim Wilde was born Kimberley Smith in 1960, Chiswick, West London - the first child of 1950s' rock 'n' roller Marty Wilde. She's well known as a pop singer with a string of hits in the 1980s including
Kids in America (1981). All her major hits were written by her father and brother, Ricki Wilde. More recently, Kim appeared in the West End production of the musical
Tommy and, in 1996, she married her co-star Hal Fowler.
During her first pregnancy, an old interest in gardening was reawakened. She studied horticulture at Capel Manor college, then progressed into TV working on the programmes
Better Gardens and
Garden Invaders.
In 2005 she won a Gold award for her courtyard garden at the Chelsea Flower Show and also published her first gardening book -
Gardening With Children.
Kim is still performing as a singer and has signed a new record deal with EMI. She has two children, Harry Tristan and Rose Elisabeth.
